From the Air Force to City Hall to the boardroom — Marcus Smith is a servant leader with over 30 years of experience in public service, financial education, and community development.
Marcus Smith is a Melbourne City Councilman, financial advisor, and retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel with a lifelong commitment to service and empowerment.
As the founder of Tax Time Solutions and a financial advisor with New York Life, Marcus has spent over a decade helping families and small business owners build financial stability through education, planning, and strategic growth. With a background in engineering, project management, and financial services, he holds an MBA from Webster University and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech.
Before his election to City Council in 2024, Marcus served three years on Melbourne’s Planning and Zoning Board, where he championed responsible growth and development. Today, he continues to advocate for workforce development, infrastructure improvement, financial empowerment, and small business and nonprofit support—pushing for smart, community-centered investment across District 1.
A passionate volunteer and mentor, Marcus was recently honored with the Earl Gordon Community Service Appreciation Award at 2025's 31st Annual Summit of Seven Mentorship Conference at Eastern Florida State College. This recognition reflects his continued mission to uplift, connect, and invest in progress—for all.
